Advantages of Membership in the
Lake Monticello Computer Users Group

LMCUG is in the eleventh year of service to computer users at the Lake. We offer good value for the modest dues (newsletter, discounts, etc.), but the primary benefits are intangible. Our members experience the rewards of being part a group of people who are interested in computers and eager to improve their skills and knowledge, and who also are willing to help others.

LMCUG members also benefit from the following free services:

  • Monthly meetings with guest speakers who discuss issues and give practical advice. These speakers are sometimes our own members.

  • A quarterly newsletter that is helpful and interesting, containing many articles and reviews written by our members.

  • The LMCUG Web site, containing many useful articles and links.

  • The opportunity to review software or hardware for our newsletter and thereby earn the right to keep the product.

  • Timely assistance from a member of our “Help Squad” when you have a computer-related problem.

  • Occasional classes in using the computer for tasks such as word processing.

  • A lending library that contains excellent books, tapes, and tutorial CDs.

  • A genealogy special interest group that gives its members all kinds of help in researching their family trees and provides a forum for exchanging information.

  • Email warnings about new viruses and hoaxes.

  • Advice on ISPs, local technicians, etc.

  • Discounts from local merchants and repair services.

  • Special offers from computer-related companies, large and small.
