Board Meeings |
The board met at 7:30 pm on Thursday, January 24th, 2008Minutes Grant Fleming, Jay Stofberg, Doris Ashley, Bob Miller, Lynn Forsyth and Alan Steward attended. The board discussed the open Vice President and Secretary positions and suggestions were requested for possible candidates. Possible Bylaws changes were suggested and we decided to speak with Parliamentarian Florence Nordone. The club meeting date had been mentioned as Thursday before so we considered changing that to reflect the new time. Additionally, we discussed changing the bylaw section saying membership is only open to LM residents. Grant felt should be available to anyone who wishes to attend/join. Grant has updated the website and will be adding new content over the next few months. Already added are the calendar and topics sections. Doris agreed to write the history of the club during her presidency so that part of the site can be updated to current. The board discussed potential topics and how important they are. We would like to get a few months lead time on topics - this should give us a chance to work on getting high quality presenters and presentations since we are not as pressed for time. Some topics that were mentioned were Video/Photo Formats, Mobile Technology, Medical Websites, Introduction to Online Genealogy, Digital/HD TV and Digital Media, Photo Clean-up and Editing, System Diagnostics and Testing, and basic Web Design. We talked about approaching other clubs and groups in the area to attract both potential members and potential speakers. Lynn offered to check with the Senior Center. Jay recommended we reach out to old members who no longer attend and Grant agreed to do that before the next meeting. We then discussed special "Membership Drive" meetings - make sure they have good topics. Advertise more - and earlier. Ask club to actively seek out guests for the meeting. Have a special drawing for those who bring guests and the guests themselves. Alan said he would continue to work on the Newsletter and we spoke briefly about potentially offering classes on basic computer topics. We also decided to implement a "Question of the Month" feature where members can submit questions to be answered at the meeting and then featured on the website. The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 The next meeting
